The 2nd German-Senegalese Economic Summit is waiting in the starting blocks and will take place in Düsseldorf on 7 November 2014
Tuesday, 29 April 2014, 14:30 o'clock, 21th floor of the former domicile of Mannesmann AG and Vodafone, offering a view of the Rhine and the old town of Düsseldorf; the decision was made: The 2nd German-Senegalese Economic Summit will this year again remain faithful to Düsseldorf. The building is a place under monument protection and, since the beginning of this year, the location of the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy, Industry, SMEs and Craft Trade.
After exactly one hour the date, the program and the financing issues were discussed and agreed upon; even the specific time was set. "We will not start before 10:00 o'clock", said Dr. Gerhard Eschenbaum, Deputy Managing Director and Head of the Department 'Foreign Trade' at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in Düsseldorf. The IHK will make the Ernst-Schneider-Hall available and offers assistance with forwarding invitations to enterprises operating in the field of energy and agriculture, while not only the agricultural sector but "food processing" is concerned, so that the invited guests comprise all enterprises operating in the area of agricultural mechanization all the way to packing the agricultural products, observing the cool chain, product processing and process engineering. But this is not all, as food processing needs electricity and, in a country like Senegal with its serious problems with power supply, discussions will also on the occasion of the Economic Summit be conducted with the best professionals from Germany and Senegal about the topics "decentralized energy supply" and "energy mix". Furthermore expert talks on the subject "dual training" will take place with representatives of the IHK, the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Labour, and their contact partners from Senegal.
During the phase of conference preparation already, SenGermany had organized a meeting between Mrs. Maïmouna Ndoye Seck, the Senegalese Energy Minister and Dr. Günther Horzetzky, the State Secretary in the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy, Industry, SMEs and Craft Trade, held in Berlin on 31 March. Since that date it is a matter of fact that the Senegalese government will be represented in Düsseldorf on 7 November 2014. Apart from that, the Directors-General of several State Agencies from Senegal had on the occasion of the 1st Economic Summit of last year assured that they will attend the summit with further colleagues in 2014.
